Cape Town
City, mountain and coast without changing base. We went up Table Mountain on a clear day and explored Bo-Kaap and the peninsula. We leave room to choose the best day depending on the weather.
See this stageFour very different areas we travelled in person: Cape Town, Hermanus, St. Lucia and iSimangaliso, and Kruger. This is how they fit into the trip we have prepared.
We are not trying to cover every place in the country. These are the ones that shape UKIYO’s first trip to South Africa.

The coast and the wineries change the pace after Cape Town. During our stay we saw whales from Hermanus. Sightings depend on the season and on nature; a night here lets you enjoy the journey without rushing.

From St. Lucia we visited iSimangaliso with a guide and sailed the estuary at sunset. Three nights combine experiences and rest. Each activity is arranged for the trip; wildlife can never be guaranteed.

From the south, between Crocodile Bridge and Lower Sabie, we moved towards the open savannah of Satara. Four nights give you time to observe calmly. Wildlife encounters are part of our experience, but they are never a promise to future travellers.
See this stageBetween St. Lucia and Kruger, the route crosses into Eswatini for a night in Hlane. There we enjoyed a sunset drive and our stay at the camp.
Eswatini is another country: it is part of the 13-day trip, but not of this selection of South African places. The border crossing and activities are adjusted to each date.

The trip page brings together all 12 nights. If you want to choose what to do in each area, see our experiences guide too.
